I have done a few modifications to Kurry since you last piloted it, and from your last description of the battle I may need to clear a few things up. This core is piloted old school, with no OB your main dodging ability comes from your skill with the boosters and the "hop". The EO are a back-up weapon, use them only if you run out of ammo in the XCW, which shouldn't really happen anyway. Right now your probably asking "Then why the hell don't you just put an OB core on it?" Three reasons, One, for the better drain. Two, I don't OB that often when I do have it. Three, just to be different.
One last thing, since there is no OB a major part of the style this core represents is patience. That's as best as I can describe it, I've never been good at putting my style I use with cores to words, so most of the time I guess just wing it

pretty darn well rounded IMO. Peck from a distance with the SRF. use the MM as well from the distance to get some splinter hits. take to the sky when you need to to launch MM bombardments. The HA30-4 is to catch people off guard at midrange and score some hits. Use OB floating to help get energy and if you need to dump everything and BLADE!
good luck!

this is your basic "if they can't shoot you they don't score [or break weapons] AC"
the hgl 100 will heat most things up in 4 shots, combine with the 500 they are deadly! the small missiles are for spam and incase something breaks you can fall back on their lockbox.
use the CROW to get ap lead and extend it or to flank heavy armor.
rember to fade away and shoot when [and if] ya have AP lead turning on the crow as needed.
if you need more speed against something light just dump the missiles.

Two points will make or break the AC. First, always manage and conserve energy for XCG10, play a close to the ground hopping dodge style to use minimal energy. Second, don't waste XCG10 ammo - it's short range, don't shoot unless you're almost sure to hit.
Hang back and let the backmounts do the work, use whichever is more useful (MM16 vs lights/mids, OCs vs tanks/heavies) first ASAP with R36 and dump, use the second to harass opponents who still hang back. If opponents rush you, blast with XCG or poke with SRFL70.
Don't OB your energy dry. Dump MM16 immediately in tight spaces, or if you need more speed.
Don't panic, you can take some hits, or shrug off a few missiles. Dodge to reduce damage, not avoid it. Think Oliver's style, kip, shrug off the hits that land and make sure your fire hits.

Well energy consumption isn't too terrible here. I actually strayed from the 002 core so that's different for me. The idea is simple enough, don't use the extensions until he lets his guard down. Otherwise feel free to spam with the OC30's. If he decides to come in close blast him with the shot gun and use the XCD/100 otherwise. Ammo shouldn't be an issue. Mobility is a little slower than I like but I'm not the one piloting it. Good luck.

-glances at puppy- he doesn't need to do that. I'm a busy man nowadays, so here goes.
Sober run: "Holy shit! Sober with the gsl-20 and the gnl-15 = super stun! Hell yeah! Shade goes down in the factory. Might be going with him, not sure yet. He is so unholy though. He had Shade in perpetual stun with gnl to grsl, back to gnl. It was beautiful man.
SunStrieker run: "Whoa..he got his ass whooped. Ok SunStrieker is officially dead until Nexus (when I get my linear rifle)"
Wake Heavy with the Finger of God: "Well he gets up to 267 air speed, and too much drain for close quarters. Hmmm...turn boosters help the turning problem..and mare lowers drain somewhat. Nah, I'll go with the unholy Sober."

Useage: Sober's been modified. He lost 440 shell and 404 energy (solid shield, I shall miss thee) to gain a possible super stun attack. Basically you hit the button to fire the grsl and then hit the gnl-15 like a second before. Then you just keep it up and you should be able to get some sort of juggling stun combo if they don't pull off running. Though that mighta just been since shade had low stun to begin with. Anyway, besides the stun combo there's the shotgun for close range lightweights and for just getting some damage if nothing else will hit (few pellets worth of damage can go the distance at times). Chaingun is for whenever the gnl isn't going to cut it. The GNL is for either the combo above or just when you OB Joust. Sober is a jousting tank, but it also can fly. The weight's low enough to let Sober do this little hop from left to right while in the air. Honestly that's what I did while super stunning Shade. If you run outta gnl, you can dump it and gain the ability to fly and chaingun/shotgun with sober. It's pretty cool. Do me proud.

Heh, while my advice for my AC is, ditch the MM16 first thing, spam off the OCs, and bring it home with the XCG - and
make sure you hit with the XCG.
Should be a good matchup anyway,

as long as the arena isn't totally skewed in one AC's favor.

Jan 30 2004, 07:54 PM
Yeah. I guess Orbits can't be stopped by Sober's decoys anyway. I just hope the Arena's something like Tropical Forest or Abandoned Factory. It'd be fun for both sides I think. If it's somehow arena they'll be trouble for you and if it's something like underground ruins they'll be trouble for Sober. He won't be able to maneuver all that well there. So here's hoping for the land of rafters or trees...or a bigass spaceship and hills.
