Next time someone asks, "Just how much better can consoles get?" Smack them in the head with a copy of this. ohmy.gif

I can't wait for my video game system that can render all that doo doo on the fly. happy.gif

Oh, and I hope this movie doesn't suck. tongue.gif

Peace,

*jaw drop*

That looks bloody gorgeous! I can finally forget that horrendous anime they made of Appleseed and rejoice in the beauty of this...

SWEET MERCIFUL CRAP! ohmy.gif

*picks MacLeod's and his own jaw up off of floor*

This wont suck, there's no way this will suck.
At any rate it'll be better than the first Appleseed movie.

WOWWOWWO!!! How come GitS isn't like THAT!!!

I'm thinkin 12 years, if Moore's Law holds true we'll see gaming consoles with roughly (since we're inbetween console generations right now) 200 to 800 GHz to possibly over a THz. (XBOX is 733, PHANTOM is supposed to be 3GHz, next gen XBOX to have 3 G5s, CELL chip = ?).

Wrong topic there chief.

Still this film looks like it will blow the pants off anything we've seen so far. I absolutely love the CG and Cel shaded mix and for once it doesn't look tacky or half assed, the cels look sleek and sharp and beautiful. Plus knowing Appleseed a shower scene is a given!

Also like to add that I'm glad they changed her hairstyle.
The original hair was just a lil too...80s.

See, the Japanese make everything cooler than the west! smile.gif

Who cares about Toy Story or Finding Nemo when there's CG work like this?

I want my CG characters to curse and blow shit up!!!

Well it doesn't really look like Masamune Shirow's art...
But jesus...this looks....

Your right answering a question posed by the topic's creator is off-topic, I think I'll leave now and post on-topic somewhere.

When's it out?

But that was totally sweet! Noticed a few elements that looked very AC, and one flash looked like the scene in Star Wars Ep1 in the big council chamber?!

Mmmmm, Apple - and no Vortex to counter-argue the greatness of the American computering power!

Y'know, I've never really liked CG graphics. I sure as hell don't think it should be used in Cartoons, unless they are cheap and low-budget. And CG doesn't permit either.

Of course, there have been some shows that have used CG properly. Futurama was pretty well-done, until they switched back to Korean slave-labor.

The new Appleseed even looks like CG shit. I can't deny, though, that the CG is well-done, still, it is shit none-the-less. On the plus side, the music sounds purposeful and original. The level of detail put into the Land-Mates is impressive. Also, the environments look spacious and open; I had no idea Olympus, from above, looked like that.

Masamune Shiro's work, I think, was just dying to get a 3D treatment.

With any luck this'll be good.

------------------------

It's not a series, is it? From the clip I saw it looks like material from books two, three and four got used. There's no way all that writing could fit into a single movie. It would take a series to encapsulate each one. Maybe a multi-part movie?

Anyone here like the original anime?

Well...Masamune Shirou made Appleseed before AC came out, am I wrong?
He also made it before Episode 1 came out...
Go find the mangas... wink.gif

He made it waay before AC came out.

If you replay through some of AC1's missions, you'll notice and incredibly strong Appleseed influence, especially during the earlier stages.

Dear God that was gorgeous. Any idea when us Gaijin can get our grimy mits on this?
Anpheus
Its a rendering, so I'm betting it would be released on DVD for the PC.
Versellios
There was nothing wrong with the original Appleseed. It was no GITS but it wasn't that bad at all. That and Black Magic M66 kicked ass. I'm getting this new one as soon as it hits my import dealer.
Ky Kiske
Finally got to see this. Yowzers - beeee-AU-tiful. I loved the OAV for Appleseed back in the day, so this is a surefire hit with me. Vers, next time I make it out to your pad in CA, please show me this on your massive wall-size TV... after the mandatory Smokey & the Bandit viewing, needless to say.

P.S. - you know, I still never have seen Snatch. Guess I'm hitting ya up for TWO viewings. They'll probbly be at Ms. Romaine's house though, which is just as good. biggrin.gif

What do you mean you haven't seen Snatch!!??! You're married!! tongue.gif

Snatch is just...AWESOME. I'll add it to the list for when you come out.

Another beautiful looking CG/2D anime was the Korean made Wonderful Days. Too bad the movie sucked though. It had some good scenes but was very boring.
