It's during a comic convention at the Scottish Rite Center.
Here's the info on it. It's basically the same as the last one that Joust posted about in September.
I want to go. I'll probably be bringing my "brother in law". Do any of you want to meet somewhere before the event and go as a group?

We usually meet at the SR center. There's a lot of hot air about playing beforehand, but we never do, so that's probably how it'll go down. Anyway, this thing ain't for a month yet, so I'm not gonna worry too much about it for now.

Then worry about the other thread and see if you might be able to do something this Friday.

On the other thread, Jujuboy said it would be neat to have a warm-up session a few days or so before the tourney. I want to do this. I most definately don't want to get eliminated by one of those "weak fools" you all tell me about.

Even if a bigger gathering is impossible, make joust get together with you to tweak on a tournament design and tactics.
I'm not going to be there to do my fabled 'choke' bit, but I don't necessarily want you taking my place as RNNC's tournament screw-up.
Win, boy! WIN!

Just played SL for the first time in months the other day... and to say the least, ive lost all sense of piloting. If i can ever get time off school (aka, get off my ass and actualy cram for once) i might have time to train a bit to actualy be a contending force. As it stands though, i suck. I suck bad.

NNNOOOOOO! I've heard about how good you are. If you go, my dreams of making the top 10 are even more crushed than they were before!
Anyway, yeah sure, attend if you can. I'd like to see how you play. Your reputation precedes you.

I'd recommend that anyone who'd be travelling more than an hour to get to the tournament stay at home. These tournaments aren't what you're used to and only take, IIRC, an hour or so.
We don't generally do any VS the day of a tournament, either.

Cool then.....

Have fun......
See you at MOC....

Yeah, the tourney isn't the most lavish in California. The prize is usualy an AC Action Figure, thats about it.

Feb 27 2004, 10:13 PM
yea, or something of that nature, oh and millefune, the only way you wont place in the top ten is if you did somehow lose to one of the people that have either rarely played the game, or never played it (which aside from us on the board that attend are about all that show up)

oh, if I am able to get my copy of nexus by then, I'd suggest someone bring along a modded ps2, and I'll gladly bring my copy to show the game off at the scottish rite tourney
joust

Nexus is coming out on the 18th of March, not on the 25th.
The next comic con is on March 14th.
It's impossible for you bring Nexus to the tournament. We should have our import copies around a week or two after Nexus gets released in Japan.

I would like to meet up somewhere with someone who's gone to one of these tournies before the tournament. I tried to go to the Scottish Rite Center two years ago to go to one of these conventions and got hopelessly lost. I would not like for that to happen again.

Being a Sunday, I might be able to attend. I'll be in Sacramento Saturday night.

Okay everyone, here's what's up. Turn out was not nearly as good as we wanted it to be, so next time all y'all better come! I had a blast, and made it to the finals! Jujuboy and joust were the only people that used M.O.C. IV legal designs. Below are the brackets (winners in blue):
FIRST ROUND
Two contestants (Dan and Dave) were eliminated due to their parents leaving the convention.
Jujuboy (Eric A.) vs. Fred (some guy)
Millefune (Kuya) vs. Eric I. (some guy from Daily City)
joust (Kannon) vs. Kobel (Ben)
Chad (some kid) vs. Filip (some guy)
SECOND ROUND
Jujuboy (Eric A.) vs. Millefune (Kuya)
Kobel (Ben) vs. Filip (some guy)
FINAL ROUND
Millefune (Kuya) vs. Kobel (Ben)
So there you have it, a whopping eight person tournament! What was the prize? An Armored Core 2: Another Age Action Figure #3! Looks like Kobel is on a roll, that's two tournies in a row that he's taken home the gold. There were supposed to be other players, but the damned Soul Calibur II tournament went over the time limit and some of the people who signed up ended up leaving the convention. Joust and I were able to give out information about the forums to Filip and Eric I. Hopefully they'll join our ranks.
Don't forget that on April 4, 2004 there is another tournament in San Jose, California! Show up to support Armored Core. If there are more contestants, we'll be able to draw a bigger crowd and get interest going!
Note: I dedicate my silver finish to that anal-hammering-pillow-fucker joust! He is the one that taught me the better techniques of Armored Core and got me to kick the OP-I habit.

lol, oh well, I guess I'll have to show up if i want it
CrimsonII
Mar 14 2004, 08:21 PM
or just show up one time, and buy one

and I woulda been there, but got busy with other things (not to mention provided they weren't going on at the sametime, I was gonna play in the Yugioh tourney, a couple of my friends did) and I woulda been there, just that I was busy, and wasn't able to get out of town today
