Wow. Talk about plot thickening!

[SPOILERS]

I honestly believed that Frey would be killed before she could hand over the N-Jammer Canceller data. Judging by the preview for 47, there's going to be a threat of nuclear apocalypse in the near future now that Earth can make their big guns roar back to life.

That and the Freedom got its head shot off and Justice lost a shield.

Rakusu proved that while she may always opt for sparing lives, she can fight dirty when she has to when she ordered all ships to destroy the Verselius and escape through the hole in enemy lines.

Kira flips out again, much as he did early in the series when the civilian shuttle was destroyed during reentry. He fell physically ill and was hospitalized. This time however, he had Rakusu there to ease his pain instead of Frey to mess with his head. Kagari also showed Aslan some open affection. Looks like they're official couples now.

3 episodes till the grand finale. I actually wonder if the good guys are really going to win this one. Three eps isn't a lot of breathing room, and we still have to have the "badguy plan exposition-good guys come to stop it-climatic final battle-plot resolution" sequence.

Unless they manage to take out Dominion before they can hand the data over, and call that the end of the series...but somehow I don't think it's gonna be that easy.

Lotus-6
Well, with 47 and 48 out, anyone who's watched it can see that the war has escalated quite a bit... the thing I'm worried about is this: They took out two episodes at the end all of the sudden. If SEED ends rushed, or if it's CUT OFF FOR THE NEXT SEASON TO CONCLUDE, I'll be pissed mad.gif
MacLeod
Well, at least it won't be as rushed as Gundam X was... they cut about ten or twelve episodes off of it's run, so they wrapped up the plot so half-assedly. SEED seems far more stable, and I don't think they'll cut it early and leave everyone hanging for SEED 2.

Let's just hope SEED 2 won't be playing ZZ to SEED... *crosses fingers and starts rubbing lucky rabbit's foot*
Kuroi Kenshin
Just saw ep 49. WHOA.

SPOILERS!!

There is definitely no next season, I'll say that much. Characters dying, and what looks like the prelude to the finale.
Darksword
Well, I haven't seen 49 just yet, but 47 and 48 blew my socks off.

Spoilers*

GENESIS is a monster. It's like the old Gryps colony laser, only with phase shift armor and a cloaking device! wacko.gif Raww gets his own Gundam, and it seems to be all geared up for newtype combat, sporting a set of bit pods much like Mwus old Mod.00 Mobius Zero on its back.

Kagari also gets her own toy, which I was extremely disappointed in. Why give the Orb princess another clone of the Strike, when we have the possiblilty for something like an Astray Kagari Custom?

The Earth is in no way squeamish about nuking everything in space, from asteroid bases, to attempting to destroy the colonies themselves, to shooting nukes at Freedom and Justice. To counter this threat, Aslan and Kira bust out what are undoubtedly the coolest pieces of kit seen yet. The Meteor mobile armor systems are like the Dendrobium Orchis on crack, and those guys each get one!

[/spoilers]

The end of the series really has me hooked. I think by the time it's over SEED is going to take Xs place as my favorite Gundam series.
Kuroi Kenshin
Well I gotta say if you like X better after ep 49 of Seed, then... no it's just not gonna happen. wink.gif If it does, you're crazy. tongue.gif Ep 49 blows ep 47 and 48 away, although those two are great in of themselves anyway. Ep 49 is that much better though. smile.gif

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

I think I can see part of where they cut the series a bit short, and believe me, there's no loss, it's actually better this way if I'm right. I think a significant part of what they cut was long drawn out death scenes - in ep 49 they were rather quick and brutal.

In some parts it's actually a little graphic, I was surprised - you'll see.

There is some seriously cool shit happening in 49 as far as battles go. ph34r.gif biggrin.gif Damn, where is my big teeth smilie when I want it? unsure.gif ohmy.gif I'm actually about to watch it again, there's one battle scene that's by far my fave of ep 49. cool.gif And it's not Kira! Even better! smile.gif
Darksword
Holy flaming bloodbaths! ohmy.gif *spoilers!*

Did Tomino direct this episode or something? In one episode we lost:

The Astray girls (I had hoped they would make it. They were my favorite non-main characters.)
Natarle (in a very bad way. she was tortured by gunshot before being vaporized along with Dominion and Azrael)
Azrael (good riddance)
MWU!! He sure as hell went out like a badass though. Took a positron shot to the face in a badly-damage Strike to protect the Archangels bridge.
Calamity and Forbidden both got turned into sashimi, the first by Yzak and the other by Kira and Aslan.
Plus countless cannon-fodder pilots.

Also it seems that Yzak has switched sides, after saving Kagari and her Strike from some beam fire.

Kagari and Rakusu both acquired their "seed modes" during the battle, though I don't know why Rakusu really needs one, since she isn't actively involved in combat, only commanding. It was nice to see Kagari whooping some ass though.

As expected, the phallusi on Providences back were remote bits, and they made pretty short work of Mwu and Strike.

GENESIS wiped out the EA headquarters on the moon, destroying half of Earths forces, and is now being aimed at Earth.

[/spoilers]

I'm almost afraid to see the end of this series, but DAMN did this episode ever impress me. Oh, and Kuroi. The battle you're referring to wouldn't be Strike vs. Providence, would it? biggrin.gif
Thorne
This series looks so awesome! - anyone have an idea when it might be coming stateside?
Rattan
Sorry for not knowing, but what are you folks watching this from?
Darksword
BitTorrent and Kazaa, mostly. tongue.gif

Except for Kuroi, who gets to see it as it's aired, IIRC.

Yup, the finale is tomorrow.

No that wasn't the battle I was referring to, but it's a very close second. biggrin.gif Go Isaac! (screw the Japanese spelling) It was a classic 0083 intro-moment ripped off, the shield destroyed in a huge cloud of smoke with the beam saber wielding Gundam boosting in full speed through the smoke, updated here with dual beam sabers out, (even cooler cool.gif ) but it was still awesome! smile.gif

I'm not sure Isaac switched sides, he blows away a Federation ship after destroying that Gundam. Then again, Kira and crew don't seem to be anybody's side either, stopping nukes but blowing away battleship after battleship.

I was glad to see those completely annoying girls finally get blown away laugh.gif , they were nothing more than anti-cliches, which I detest. mad.gif I was shocked how fast they went though blink.gif one gone in an eyeblink in the first few minutes. ("Did I see that right?...") ohmy.gif

I was also glad to see the 'bad' guys with only very dumb character development finally get blown away, and their mostly stupid Gundams.

Fraga went out in true style. I was hoping he'd make it, but I had a sinking feeling way back in the first few episodes he was going to bite it before the end.

Nothing like wiping out a third to half the cast in one episode... blink.gif

I'm kind of curious if any other major characters aren't going to make it. I say Isaac definitely will, because he was the guy you totally hated after blowing away the civilian shuttle way back when.

Oh, I think there may be another SEED series coming, but it's going to be about those production model Gundams and new characters. This is almost pure speculation off very minor tidbits I found floating around, I haven't looked into it really.
Kuroi Kenshin
Hoo boy, what a finale!

MINOR SPOILERS

More great battles, and of course more deaths. ohmy.gif More of the same from last episode, with more battles. ph34r.gif

There's already a manga about the Astray series Gundams (ingeniously titled MSG SEED: ASTRAY), but there's also the rumors about SEED 2... I'm quite eager to find out about this one. I just hope it doesn't play the ZZ to SEED's Z (Even though the FAZZ was an amazing design, I detested the ZZ show, it was even campier than SD Gundam Force).

Wow..... sleep.gif

[spoilers]

I finally saw episode 50. What a finale. It's been a long time since I saw an end sequence that was such a tear-jerker.

Kira made it. Aslan and Kagari both made it, as did Deakka and Yzak. Freys death finally happened, but it ended on a much better note than I was expecting.

Providence by far wins the "most viscious MS award" for space combat. It pwned everything, and Kira was down to one working arm and a beam saber by the time he managed to finish it off.

Aslans dad finally got what was coming to him, though it was kind of bittersweet when he begged his son to fire GENESIS before he died.

Aslan tried to pull a Heero Yuy on us, but was saved by Kagari.

I don't quite understand why Genesis didn't fire though. Was it Providence who absorbed the blast energy when it exploded?

[/spoilers]

I was right after all. Gundam X has been officially bumped to the number 2 slot, and for the time being, SEED is my favorite Gundam series. happy.gif

*SPOILER*

Asuran use the Justice Gundam to blow Genisis up. Thats why Kagari and him were in the Strike Rouge at the end without Justice. dry.gif I wish a little more explaining was done before the series ended. Other then that, it ended good. They saved the best of the crack heads to die last (Raider's pilot). I'm also pretty happy Fray met her end, and it was bitter sweet too.

While the last couple of Freedom/Justice come to save the day with their ubar Seed skillz was very dull and unatractive, the final episodes were very entertaining. I can only attribute this to the amount of death and killing off of the characters. One of the biggest shockers for me was Mwu the human shield. It never crossed my mind he would die off. It was beautiful. Watching those Blue Cosmos freaks die was especialy a treat. I didn't like them from the moment i saw them.

Providence is a bad ass mech. I didn't think this before when i saw the lineart. Now that i saw it in action, i can now say i will buy a HG 1/144 of the suit when it comes out. It reminded me of the RX-78, but on steroids. Kruze was definatly the right maniac to pilot that thing.

In all, im fairly happy with the final episode. I wish more was explained on how the whole Zaft conflict even arised. How the hell did that whole valintine business even start? Is Orb even a nation anymore? Things are just left unsaid, and that bugged me. Hopefully Seed 2 will inlighten us to some things we missed.

Yeah, although I was kinda hoping the SEED thing would be explained better, and WTH with teleporting Kira when Strike got blown up.

I was pretty happy to see Isaac and Deakka stepping up and taking down other Gundams. Would've liked to see Mwu have kicked a little more ass in Strike too, but oh well.
syllaw blood
you can also get it fansubbed, i have it all except for the last two discs, but i saw it all at a friend's house, man first my precious X303, and now Justice blown to smitherines.

SEED is coming stateside next 3rd quarter, basically when SEED 2 is out over there, we get the first SEED,

I want the Manga ASTRAY, since ASTRAY:R is out soon.. ASTRAY is my fave mass produced mobile suit from the "good" side, if any of you miss the blitz gundam you might get some nostalgia by going to mahq and looking for the refurnished yellow/gold astray that has blitz gundam parts in it.
