So, who else is watching The Next Great Champ?

So far, so good. It's got the typical trappings of a reality show, and I wonder if Pareja really is the raging racist asshat the show portrays him as.

Come on, it's also using Eye of the Tiger for the theme. tongue.gif

Is that the show that tried to be called "The next Rocky", but got sued? I might tune in if I ever see it's on.
Ganesha
I guess so, but it wouldn't make sense to call it Rocky as not all the contenders are Italians. tongue.gif

I was kind of surprised, because I thought Stallone was involved with it as a producer or some such, but I guess you don't need and actor when you've got a real boxer around.

All in all it's pretty fun. And unlike other reality shows, you actually get to watch someone get the crap kicked out of them at the end of the show. tongue.gif

Sounds good. What channel and time is it on?
Ganesha
I believe it's on Fox.

I don't know. I download the torrents. No commercial interruptions rox! tongue.gif

Sly is involved in a different boxing reality show. Isn't Oscar De La Hoya connected to this one?
Ganesha
Yeah, Dela Hoya and a couple respected trainer dudes.

It's a really enjoyable series.

I haven't watched an episode from start to finish, but I haven't been blown away by it. I hate the way they edit the fights. It's impossible to tell who really won of lost. Pareja didn't impress me at all and I've been a boxing fan since the late 70's. However, I'm not versed enough in the behind the scenes.

Well, Otis Griffin got the boot tonight. Kind of a shame because he looked the part, and he certainly didn't slack in training; but when he got in the ring he displayed a tendency to lead with his head. Resulting in a lot of low body shots. I dunno, gave me the impression he was afraid of getting hit in the face, or moving in on his opponent.

However, I'm no boxing pro. Daywalker would be more qualified to comment.

It's a shame because I was hoping Otis had something in him.

I missed the endurance challenge, as my ass did it's impersonation of a suicide bomber during the commercial break while on the crapper. Oh the pain. The pain!!!! sad.gif

They're postponing the rest of the series until October 22nd.

One of the losers returns, and new fighters enter the fray.

I wish I'd watched it! I, too, thought Otis had the potential to be an awesome fighter. He was the primary draw to the show for me, really.

I'll have to see if I can find it for download.
Ganesha
I've had no problem downloading the episodes I missed from here.

I really hope Gilbert has the goods. I don't want him to be another ex-con thug that can't box.

It was also funny when Freddy engaged in televised White Flight after Otis got in his face about talking trash behind his back. tongue.gif

I don't have the resources necessary to do the port forwarding for proper use of BitTorrent.

I should be able to find them elsewhere, though.

Thanks for the link.

I only watched a few minutes last night - the last round or so. Was Otis the former NFL draftee? IF so that what might have been his downfall. He does look the part, but it's a different skill set. I can't think of one guy who has made the transition from another sport into boxing.

What I saw was Otis backing up too much. He seemed to always be in the ropes, he didn't throw enough power punches, he didn't look sharp. . .
