Full Version: VHD+Bebop = Hellsing

Just finished up watching Hellsing, and I have to say...I am IMPRESSED.
This has all the elements that make up a great anime.
Great action.
Great art.
Very good dry humor.
Soundtrack is awesome.

Besides me being a usual fan of vampire stuff, this kicks ass.
Although from the title - a reference to the VanHelsing family, those who hunted Nosferatu, and were the rivals of the Draculs, and the man character's name (see title) - this story has little and nothing to do with the Bram Stoker/Vlad Dracul mythos.
There isnt a whole lot explained.
Anyone else who watches the show know who Alucard really is?
Who's Incognito?
And why cant Integra pick a gender?

What's weird about the soundtrack is that like half the stuff used in the show isn't on EITHER of the soundtracks... And half the stuff on the soundtracks isn't used in the show! But, yeah, Hellsing r0xX0rZ.

Because she knows she's mad hot even if she dresses like a man?

I love Alucard's Theme (Plays in the forest during episode 1).

"It's a nice night, right, policewoman?" cool.gif

Not to mention the opening and closing songs kick ass.

As for Integra, it did take me a couple episodes to realize she was a woman and not just a bishonen - but yeah, she's pretty hot underneath that conservative buisiness suit.
You know Alucard's tappin that in the dungeon late at night! wink.gif

That theme is, oddly enough, one of the ones not on the soundtrack CDs. I've never really liked the closing theme though, I find it rather inappropriate, boring, and obnoxious. However, the opening theme makes up for all of that by being, umm, INCREDIBLY badass.

It's the 'sir' that throws you off.

Anyone notice in his last battle with Incognito....he kinda dropped hints he might be Dracula? I don't it, it could be him saying his name was also an anagram, the thing with him looking like Vlad in the split screen of his face, and how he finished the fight....
Kobel
Dude. He IS Dracula. I thought that they made that pretty clear.
Saturn9
I got more of the impression of him being Dracula's son.
There was no evidence for this, but it was my personal belief because there was no point where they labled him as Dracula.
It's obvious he's a Dracul, is he Vlad the Impaler?
Although he did impale Incognito, who knows.
WHO WAS INCOGNITO ANYWAYS?!

The vocals are a little bit poppy, but it's more early 90s poppy, the guitar aint bad though.

alucard is the japanese version of dracula. and incognito was in hte myths the person to kill alucard but in the anime the do it differently the entire show is baised apon the myths. ever down to seras.

she was the servent to alucard because she gave up to him after a fight seeing that she couldn't harm him the story is she is travling with her husband/boyfriend/significant other (the myths dont agree) and his friends(her attack team?) when she went to get water they were attacked by a stray vampire(chip priest) and turned into gouls. she came back grabed a sword and attacked alucard failing to kill him after a few blows to the head, she droped her sword and gave up(choke hold) during that time the stray vampire threw a throwing star into her(gun shot), almost killing her so alucard bit her so she would live and then killed the other guy. acording to the myths alucard didn't serve anyone, but did protect interga because he wanted her blood but he wanted it freely not forced because of a reason that is hard to explain.(don't ask).
he was killed by incognito. in a huge battle where alucard is trying to stop the mass attack from a wild vapire attack on intera(chip vampires?) after the battle seras then kills incognito with a claymore. she swings like a katana (hint her huge gun)(as alucard only uses a wakashi(sp?)) and then is left with her masters head(the priest guy?) and drinks the blood to become free(eposade 3?) and then just kinda fades away.

I like the soundtrack. My only problem with it is that when I listened to it at work, I was more easy to annoy. Some of the tracks makes you on edge. Or it did for me.

Most people don't actually own the series and have/has watched it on CN or something since subs aren't an option on TV. I on the other hand own a lot of anime and I watched them subtitled first then I watch them in dub to see if they tried for a form of character match in english. (i.e.: Yuniko's japanese voice fit her, while the english voice didn't seem to fit in) Well for one I don't know japanese, and two subs aren't as bad as dubs. I'd really not want to guess what fuck is going, it be like watching pretty pictures and random jibberish.

Anyways... I need to watch this series again, like I do with Heat Guy J and Haibane Renmei.
