++Adult Swim Goofs with Big O 2 - Kim Manning, programming director for Adult Swim,
issued a public apology for a recent programming change that resulted in the
scheduled broadcast of Big O episode 26, the final episode of Big O Season 2, being
replaced by episode 20.  The apology, directed at fans of Big O, explained that the
programming change was a mistake and not an intentional prank. Big O episode 26, "The
Show Must Go On," has been re-scheduled for Sunday November 2nd at 11 p.m., displacing
the premiere of Family Guy's "Once Upon a Weinstein" episode. Family Guy has been moved
to the same time block the following Sunday.

++Hack Sign Vol 5 Limited has been pushed back - Geneon / Pioneer Animation has just
recently announced that the release date for the Hack/Sign Vol 5 Limited Edition DVD
has been pushed back to November 18th.

++Trigun Manga Sells Out in Less Than 72 Hours - The first volume of the English language
version of Yasuhiro Nightow's Trigun Manga sold out an edition of 35,000 copies at wholesale
level within days of its release. We went heavy on our initial order of the manga knowing
it would be very popular, and still our entire stock completely vaporized within 72 hours
of posting it to the site! Dark Horse is going back to press for 15,000 additional copies
of the saga, so we should have it back in stock soon!

++Viz Licenses 'She, The Ultimate Weapon' - Viz has announced they have both the anime and
manga for Saishuu Heiki Kanojo. This title is also known as "Saikano", or "She, The Ultimate
Weapon"; it's the story of Shuuji and Chiise, two young people caught up amongst turbulent
relationships, very real human suffering, and a war where in Chiise is the army's most
powerful and destructive weapon. Saikano is a masterpiece to watch - DVD release will begin
in April 2004.

++New Phoenix Anime Series in Japan - Natsume Maya is reporting that a 13-episode anime series
based on Osamu Tezuka's manga masterwork, Phoenix (Hi No Tori), is currently in production
and will be broadcast in the spring of 2004.  Viz has published portions of Tezuka's 12-volume
masterwork, in which each self-contained volume takes place in a different time period but
deals with recurring characters and situations.

++Ai Yori Aoshi Enishi now available online - Ai Yori Aoshi ~ Enishi episode 1 is being streamed

++Funimation To Launch Tenchi GXP - Funimation has confirmed that they have set to release the
first volume of the 26-episode Tenchi GXP: Galaxy Police Transporter series on March 10, 2004.
While Tenchi GXP is set in the "Tenchi Universe" and is, like the Tenchi OAV series it spun
off from, a romantic science fiction comedy, it does not feature Tenchi himself or many of
the other characters from the various Tenchi series, though some of the key Tenchi characters
are mentioned in the dialogue.

++ US & Foreign Sales Reshaping Anime Industry - Thanks to increasing revenue from foreign sales,
anime producers and studios are gaining more control over their projects.  In the past the
considerable funds required to produce anime came primarily from Japanese sources, including
TV networks, toy companies, and advertising agencies.  But as Natsume Maya has reported on her
excellent Japanese pop culture website, overseas profits are changing the traditional patterns
of investment and control.  The rise of the anime studios such as Ghibli, Gonzo, Gainax,
Madhouse, Production IG, etc. demonstrate that with financial success comes artistic freedom
and the influx of profits from foreign sales has allowed this power to seep down to newer
companies.  While Japan's economy remains in the doldrums, anime exports continue to grow
and bring in more revenues.

++Tokyopop To Publish Battle Vixens - Tokyopop has added information about another new manga
series to its Website.  Battle Vixens, which appeared in Japan as Ikki Tosen, will have its
American debut next April.

++Kids! WB has unveiled its new Saturday morning line-up - Which premieres on November 1st.
Ninety minutes of the four-hour block will be comprised of Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon, the only
anime present in the block.  Here is what the schedule will look like - 08:00 Yu-Gi-Oh!
(first season repeats), 08:30 Teen Titans, 09:00 Jackie Chan Adventures, 09:30 Xiaolin
Showdown, 10:00 Pokemon Advanced (New season debuts Nov 1), 10:30 Mucha Lucha!, 11:00

The guys at Cartoon Network need to dig deeper. I personally thought Big-O is a total waste of air time. So far they've scored on a few on the anime titles, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop(just OK), Lupin the III(yes old, but good), FLCL(wacky, still liked it)and Blue Gender, besides those I can't find anything that would be worth watching on Adult Swim or Toonami.

I have a few that come to mind that they should air on one or the other or both. His and Her Circustances, yes it is a bit on the femine side, but it was a great series even for me. GTO(Great Teacher Onizuka), but the likelihood of them airing this is slim because of the cultural differences of Japan and the US, eventhough the beginning can give people the wrong impression of the series which would make it worse! You're Under Arrest, a great series, but it's a little old now, 7 year old series, and the dvds are a little hard to come by as well. And this is a fairly long running series, has 52 episodes. So it lasted a full year, not many series do that besides the awful Dragonball's and Sailor Moon's(eventhough I kind of liked SM). I could name off other good series like Chobits, X, Full Metal Panic, etc. Ehehe.. I think I've ranted enough, thanks for the infomation Rattan, you always seem to keep up with it better than I can.
Feedback
Saikano, euugh. I read that sappy piece of crap, they couldn't decide whether it was a sci-fi or a romance, with an unbelievable relationship and an annoying catchphrase. ("Dumbass.")
syllaw blood
they are giving inuyasha again, pretty smart of them, they also are putting out reign again for hopefully its last run, they need lupin back on there, or maybe take back yuyu, i have no problem with weekly yu yu before .hack... and whats with kikkaider... just give the ova again, maybe replacing reign and then going back to lupin perharps...

I'm an anime layman for the most part. So I have a few questions.

In regards to "X" specifically. I watched an anime movie named that last night...I'm sure its deeply rooted in Japanese beliefs, that or a schizophrenic did the storyline. blink.gif

But confusing bits aside, does this have any relation to something called Tokyo Babylon? I remember seeing like two episodes of this on TV...but never any others. The animation looks very similar, and the whole psychic thing plays a big role as well...I'm just curious because someone's mentioned an "X" series in this thread.
Feedback
Okay, X has a storyline with apocalyptic roots and random religious themes. Each of the main characters has a tarot card assigned to them. For example, I believe the magazine editor (Seiichiro Aoiki) is the Heirophant card.
As for Tokyo Babylon, two characters, Subaru Sumeragi (I think he's the Star or the Chariot card.) and Seishiro Sakurazuka (The Death card.), the yin/yang sorcerors, are from that series. X is a pretty, um, gay series in some parts, but overall I liked what I saw of it, and I hope I see more. I don't really get to watch a lot of anime myself, most of the stuff I see I read off of scanlations put up on the internet. So I'm a sort of manga fan, I can't really claim to be an anime fan.

The X movie was pathetic however.

PATHETIC???!?!?!?!!11

There was blood and guts and crosses and eviscerations and killer dragons and explosions and more blood and oh did I mention the BLOOD??

Why, the animation and violence were so wonderful you could barely notice the plotholes the size of S9's fatty drug lord mansion!!
Feedback
It SUCKED. All the cool characters basically introduced themselves and were promptly killed off. The animation was great, but what else? That's passable for a TV movie but not a feature length film. There was that much blood in the TV series in some instances and there was way better plot progression.
MacLeod
I was being facetious, Feedback. Couldn't you tell?

*checks his own post*

Hm... needs salt.
