Okay...here goes the results for round one.

Toxin(S) VS. Monstro(M)

Military District: Toxin - 852 Monstro - 1087

Sandman played the snot out of Toxin in the first round. Toxin requires close range to be truly effective, and Monstro just wasn't going to oblige him without unleashing missile fury first.

Limestone Caves: Toxin - 0 Monstro - 4702

More of the same x 10.

Winner = Monstro 2 - 0

Nightstorm(M) VS. SJ Sober(S)

Military District: Nightstorm - 0 SJ Sober - 3502

Did I ever mention that buffed up GNL jousting tanks can be murder?

Aerial Ruins: Nightstorm - 507 SJ Sober - 0

Very tough and close match.

Parking Lot: Nightstorm - 0 SJ Sober - 2413

Even though it was a forgone conclusion in the lot, Nightstorm put up a hell of a fight.

Winner = SJ Sober 2 - 1

Dreamspinner(S) VS. Daijobo(M)

Military District: DS - 2643 Daijobo - 0

Daijobo, while extremely fast and agile requires close combat to be effective. Getting close to someone packing as much diverse weaponry as DS is pure hell. Not only do you have a lot to get through, but there is plenty more waiting when you get there.

Underground Factory: DS - 1087 Daijobo - 0

Managed to put the Moonlight to work on DS, but paid the price with ORCA rounds .

Winner = Dreamspinner 2 - 0

Big Bear(M) VS. Rodent(S)

Military District: BB - 0 Rodent - 1365

Although BB was one of my favorites coming in, the elusive Rodent proved too much by being able to stay out of his lockbox for most of the match while clinging to his back and sides and pumping in loads of firepower. OBing and turning only did so much for BB. He often turned just in time to get a laser bolt in the face followed by an angry rodent.

Arena: BB - 0 Rodent - 2419

More of the same. Can someone please turn down the WIZ legs?!

Winner = Rodent 2 - 0

Desert Recluse(S) VS. Outlander(M)

Military District: DL - 1649 Outlander - 1392

Very close and tight match that came right down to the last second.

Wasteland: DL - 959 Outlander - 0

The GN packing quad would not be denied.

Winner = Desert Recluse 2 - 0

Red Dragon(M) VS. Midnight(S)

Military District: RD - 0 Midnight - 2625

An extremely well played game by Sandman sealed a win for Midnight.

Underground Factory: RD - 0 Midnight - 572

Hoping to keep him close and under large sums of fire was a sound plan that almost paid off....almost.

Winner = Midnight 2 - 0

Bertha(M) VS. Wraith(S)

Military District: Bertha - 5398 Wraith - 0

Oh my God! What kind of missiles are those and where can I buy some. Those verts are vicious and supported by MG/Howie proved almighty.

Structure: Betha - 2938 Wraith - 0

Verts can work in Structure for those of you who were not aware. Bertha is a beast even when they aren't constantly raining down as well.

Winner = Bertha 2 - 0

Angel Dust(M) VS. Crossbones(S)

Military District: AD - 1867 CB - 0

Missiles, missiles, and more missiles.

Ruins: AD - 0 CB - 6457

Crossbones was all over AD with the Moonlight whirling.

Wasteland: AD - 0 CB - 610

A true nailbiter. The PK saved the day for CB.

Winner = Crossbones 2 - 1

Ironman II(S) VS. Requiem(M)

Military District: Req - 1630 IM - 0

Great fight that was all over the arena.

Crest Base: Req - 0 IM - 1811

The XCW90 was used perfectly, and Requiems' missiles were neutered with some fancy dodging.

Snow Field: Req - 0 IM - 1801

Same scenario as Crest.

Winner = Ironman II 2 - 1

Black Joker(M) VS. Ebony(S)

Military District: BJ - 2658 Ebony - 0

The elusive and buckshot scattering BJ was all over Ebony.

Parking Lot: BJ - 4245 Ebony - 0

Sandmans' plan to level the playing field backfired. BJ skipped from pillar to pillar firing the whole time.

Winner = Black Joker 2 - 0

Pressurize(M) VS. Egg Addict(S)

Military Base: Pressurize - 2581 EA - 0

Pressurize proved to be very tough and too hard to shake.

Steeple: Pressurize - 616 EA - 0

The burst missiles came VERY close to sealing the win for EA. Although extremely effective, Pressurize had his own missiles and was on EA at every opportunity.

Winner = Pressurize 2 - 0

Berlin(S) VS. Alpha(M)

Military District: Berlin - 1908 Alpha - 0

Berlins' OBing missile attacks overpowered Alpha.

Parking Lot: Berlin - 0 Alpha - 3328

Alpha cut Berlin down with an onslaught of Sawa blasts.

Wasteland: Berlin - 0 Alpha - 1402

Although fleet of foot and steady with the missiles, Berlin was overcome by the fast and steady Alpha.

Winner = Alpha 2 - 1

Wuss(S) VS. Red Hurricane(M)

Military District: Wuss - 0 RH - 3614

Red Hurricane was just that with a massive swarm of missiles backed up by MG fire.

Space Dome: Wuss - 0 RH - 3135

More of the same.

Winner = Red Hurricane 2 - 0

Manticore(S) VS. Bronze Knight(M)

Military District: Manticore - 1376 BK - 0

My Dark Horse BK went down but did a very good job of denting the monstrous hide of Manitcore.

Stucture: Manitcore - 1773 BK - 0

Once again Manticore stood strong under the blazing fire of BK to emerge victorious.

Winner = Manticore 2 - 0

Styx(M) VS. Rage(S)

Military District: Styx - 767 Rage - 0

Another true nailbiter that viciously came down to end. It was all I could do to avoid death by plasma, yet in the end Styx proved he is armed to the teeth and some as well.

Parking Lot: Styx - 5011 Rage - 0

Once again a plan to put a lid on a fleet of foot AC backfired on Sandman. Styx let rip with the ORCA and barrages of missiles and MG while dodging in and out of Rage's lockbox.

Winner = Styx 2 - 0

Dragon Knight(M) VS. Flashbang 2(S)

Military District: DK - 2946 FB - 0

The most highly diversely armed AC of the tournie IMHO is DK. This thing has an answer for every possible senario and the speed and manueverability to make it work. Although FB was never out of it armed with his own bag of tricks, DK threw everything and the kitchen sink to come up with a victory.

Arena: DK - 0 FB - 1030

A great match and nowhere to run from the GNL.

Steeple: DK - 4621 FB - 0

For those of you who don't know, quads and towers don't mix. This one was largely DK in a nasty way.

Winner = Dragon Knight 2 - 1

Sweet 16

Monstro(M) VS. SJ Sober(S)

Military District: An incredibly close and hard fought battle. Monstro kept the heat on with salvos of Hi-Acts, MG, and napalm howie rounds that were very effective in melting the sides of the monstrous tank. SJ Sober had his own variety of firepower that was every bit as effective however.
Monstro – 619 SJ Sober – 1237

Aerial Ruins: With lots of pop up missile attacks from the tunnels and ravines, Monstro played a more defensive game making the tank come to him after getting the AP lead. Although chain gun rounds and grenades still found there mark, Monstro took the advantage at every opportunity to press in and stay on top of SJ before retreating to the safety of the caves. Several scenarios of this was all it took to fell the mighty tank.
Monstro – 1293 SJ Sober – 0

Space Dome: With no where to run or hide Monstro had to face the tank in the confines of the Dome. Perfect decoy usage by SJ neutered Monstros most effective weapon, and OB GNL jousting runs over time finally caused the fierce Monstro to fall.
Monstro – 0 SJ Sober – 4067

Winner = SJ Sober 2 – 1

Dreamspinner(S) VS. Rodent(M)

Military District: Another fierce battle that came down to the final moments. Both competitors fought tooth and nail leveling the arena with laser, missile and MG fire. The insanely quick Rodent pressed in at every opportunity and quickly escaped anytime things started to look bad. DS fired missiles at the retreating Rodent, but quick feet and good use of cover and AMS almost always rendered the missiles useless. In the end, sniping lasers from the LQ brought down DS while he was moving from building to building to press an attack.
Dreamspinner – 0 Rodent – 603

Crest Base: Dreamspinner utilized the center platform to launch missiles and laser bolts at the scurrying Rodent. Rodents attempts to ascend to the upper platform often met with large scale defensive firepower. After seizing the upper hand, DS dropped down to engage and managed to whittle Rodent down with laser and howie rounds.
Dreamspinner – 1106 Rodent - 0

Abandoned Factory: The close confines of the adjoined rooms made for a ferocious battle. Both AC’s fought for all they were worth knowing the victor would move on to the next round. Rodents speed was what ultimately decided the outcome as he OB’d from room to room and set up ambushes with the LQ.
Dreamspinner – 0 Rodent – 1002

Winner = Rodent 2 – 1

Midnight(M) VS. Desert Recluse(S)

Military District: Midnight claimed the pace of the match by launching all of his orbits and then dropping them to go into pure sniper mode. DL was at an AP disadvantage after having been pecked away at and needed to press in. Midnight simply backed from corner to corner sniping away, but DL continued the press with MG spraying and occasionally landing a grenade. Ultimately Midnight had too much an advantage of staying at arms reach and this would ultimately decide the match.
Midnight – 2534 Desert Recluse – 0

Parking Lot: DL immedietly pressed forward while launching grenades. Midnight fired off as many supported orbits as he could before switching to sniper, but was unable to keep up with the damage of a pressing MG and grenade attack.
Midnight – 0 Desert Reculuse – 3850

Snowfield: Midnight used the same tactics that were so effective in his first win once again. Although DL fought superbly, the speedier Midnights weapons were much more effective at longer ranges where he stayed for the majority of the match.
Midnight – 2447 Desert Recluse – 0

Winner = Midnight 2 - 1

Bertha(M) VS. Crossbones(S)

Military District: Crossbones was almost doomed from the start against something that can fill the sky with so many missiles in an arena with no true cover. Although Crossbones dropped decoys as skillfully as one can, Bertha fired one salvo after another while OB’ing in to engage. Crossbones put up a valiant effort and tried to make up for AP loss with his Moonlight, but HZL shells shut him down and MG fire tore him to pieces.
Bertha – 6628 Crossbones – 0

Underground Factory: Crossbones decided to put a lid on Bertha and take his verts out of the equation. In a pitched battle of sword swings and laser bolts vs. MG and howie shells, the shutdown factor of the howie and the much thicker hide of Bertha was just too much for Crossbones to overcome.
Bethat – 4547 Crossbones – 0

Winner = Bertha 2 - 0

Black Joker(M) VS. Ironman II(S)

Military District: A great fight that truly could have gone either way. Ironman had the reach with his laser rifle, but BJ would often fire off missiles and then come sweeping in with double shottys blaring. IM wasn’t named improperly though, and held up well to the buckshot. In the end it was anyones fight, but IM backed off and nailed BJ with a laser bolt while he was coming in on OB once again.
Black Joker – 0 Ironman II – 112

Aerial Ruins: Yet another hard fought battle between two equal foes. BJ went for high ground to rain down missiles while IM went underground to snipe with lasers. This strategy didn’t last two long for either competitor and close combat was engaged. In the end it was a slight edge in energy efficiency that allowed BJ an edge on circle strafing.
Black Joker – 252 Ironman II – 0

Arena: With no cover this battle was fierce and both AC’s fought like cornered animals. IM was at a slight advantage however with nothing to impede his laser bolts from mid range. BJ could dodge, but needed to close the gap and engage to be truly effective. In the end it was some fancy footwork and pointblank fire that felled the Joker and allowed Ironman to move on.
Black Joker – 0 Ironman II - 2218

Winner = Ironman II 2 - 1

Pressurize(M) VS. Alpha(S)

Military District: Pressurize was aptly named because he was able to apply pressure quickly and firmly. Alpha kept up a blitz while kipping in and firing sawa bolts, but Pressurize simple bounded back to a comfortable dodging range and rained missiles at every opening on Alpha. After the Hi-Acts had done there work, they were dropped and replaced by MG and buckshot. The large difference between these opponents came down to who was more maneuverable while laying on the trigger, and that was Pressurize.
Pressurize – 3268 Alpha – 0

Parking Lot: Seeking to lay into Pressurize and make him feel the full might of the Big K, Alpha chose the confines of the Parking Lot. Pressurize however, is no easy beast to corner and effortlessly weaved in and out of the pillars while unleashing every flavor of his arsenal. Alpha put up a monstrous fight with such a mighty weapon, but he did not have the hide to endure under such constant return fire.
Pressurize – 2231 Alpha – 0

Winner = Pressurize 2 - 0

Red Hurricane(M) VS. Manticore(S)

Military District: A battle of Titans and Hi-Acts. Being of thicker hide and having more decoys to play with gave Manticore the edge in the missile battle. RH weaved in to bring his sword into play for a ferocious swipe, if any AC could bear up under such an attack however, it is Manticore. MG fire was exchanged, but having the thicker hide and the XCDL-80 to pair with his, Manticore came away from the exchange on the better side. A final missile salvo ended the match as RH came in trying to land another blade swipe.
Red Hurricane – 0 Manticore – 2763

Structure: RH thought to utilize the multi tiered and pillared obstacles of the arena for some kind of advantage. This fight was much the same as the first with Manticore shrugging off damage coupled with an extreme ability to inflict his own. Even a last minute double blade strike couldn’t save the day for Red Hurricane.
Red Hurricane – 0 Manticore – 2119

Winner = Manticore – 2 – 0

Styx(M) VS. Dragon Knight(S)

Military District: Styx is literally bristling with a plethora of weaponry, but DK is up to every task as well. DK started by using pop up attacks to launch off all of his orbits inflicting some damage on Styx before he could get into attack range. Salvos of missiles were launched as the two AC’s came within range, each weaving in and out close to mid and changing the method of attack to best suit the situation. In the end the initial orbit damage that was secured was enough to keep pace and win the match of a truly vicious fight.
Styx – 0 Dragon Knight – 1062

Lab: The match started much the same only this time both AC’s fought and even more ferocious and fast paced battle. Each AC was burning from missile strikes and popping EO’s to supplement damage from close range weaponry. The E1 core proved slightly more beneficial with its longer ranges and non draining ability, although the ORCA performed admirably. A mid range shotgun blast while both AC’s were dancing in and out of cover was all it took to end the battle and seal the win for DK.
Styx – 0 Dragon Knight – 406

Winner = Dragon Knight 2 - 0

Elite 8

SJ-Sober(S) VS. Rodent(M)

Military District: Rodent fought like a crazed animal making OB straffing runs with the 800 and 50 and firing the LQ as the oppurtunity presented itself. SJ-Sober did lots of jousting runs as well, although less successful against the speedier Rodent than other competitors so far, the damage that was landed was immense. Although Rodent fought extremely well, the incredible thick hide of SJ was just too much to overcome before falling to scattered chaingun rounds.

SJ-Sober - 1435 Rodent - 0

Aerial Ruins: With slightly more diverse terrain and elevation changes, Rodent sought to bring the fight to SJ and dissapear to whatever cover was at hand. He spent a good time sniping from the tunnels, and leaping from one platform to the next. SJ continued pursuit and made frequent OB runs, one time right through the a tunnel to land a grenade and fly out the other side. It was a ferocious fight, but it ended in much the same way as the first.

SJ-Sober - 1548 Rodent - 0

Winner = SJ Sober 2 - 0

Bertha(S) VS. Midnight(M)

Military District: Midnight started the match as always and launched orbits supported orbits from afar. Bertha waded through and his core took out most of the incoming missiles. As soon as Bertha aquired a lock with the verts he let loose. Midnight used speed moves and decs to evade most of the missles, but a massive volley landed home for jaw dropping damage and Bertha was on him with MG and howie fire before Midnight could recover. Midnight managed to escape and snipe from longer ranges, but Bertha utilized OB jousting tactics to do the little damage needed to seal the win.

Bertha - 1488 Midnight - 0

Wasteland: Again the skies were awash with missiles and oribits as soon as locks were aquired, and Bethat once again came tearing in to add to the chaos. Midnight managed to keep distance and pace, but between the missiles and the MG runs, damage was quickly mounting. A sword swipe and OB get away to snipe from afar kept Midnight in it until the very end, when a forced close encounter and howie strike felled Midnight.

Bertha - 1202 Midnight - 0

Winner - Betha 2 - 0

Ironman II(S) VS. Pressurize(M)

Military District: Ironmans' lack of serious AMS almost soley dicated the outcome of this match. HI-Acts are notorious in their accuaracy and potency, and Ironman had to rely on cover for the most part. Angle firing and OB straffing was the name of the game for Pressurize while Ironman sniped from mid ranges with the XCW/90 and brought the 56 to bear when his opponent got near enough. ALthough well armored, Ironman just couldn't keep up in the damage race.

Ironman II - 0 Pressurize - 2305

City: Ironman dodged around the central structure to avoid most of the missiles. Pressurize tried to fire down from the highest tower, but Ironman always managed to find shelter and angle accordingly to spare himself from the larger swarms. The laser and stronger shotgun proved superior over the 800 and 72 when the fiercest fighting commenced. Pressurize eventually fell to a laser bolt and several pellets of buckshot from midrange.

Ironman II - 690 Pressurize - 0

Abandoned Factory: The fighting here was the fiercest so far between these two foes. Although Pressurize kept the missiles going, Ironman weaved in and out of the supports and upper catwalks. There was not a square foot of this arena that did not support the fighting over the duration of the match, but in the end Pressurize managed to flank and outcircle Ironman at close quarters and let a long rip of the MG800 take down Ironman.

Ironman II - 0 Pressurize - 1650

Winner = Pressurize 2 - 1

Manitcore(M) VS. DragonKnight(S)

Military District: Although DK is armed with an extremely diverse and potent arsenal, the thick hide of Manticore is up to almost any task. Oribts and missiles rained back and forth between both AC's, and Maticore hopped along to fire MG and laser bolts when ever the range dictated. DK, fired a swarm of missiles into Manticore snapping his side shields, but the retaliation was ferocious. DK limped behind cover to regroup, but Manticore took out the building with MG and snapped a laserbolt just as his sights went red to end the match.

Manticore - 2120 DragonKnight - 0

Steeple: In a brilliant move by DK the arena selection greatly reduced the effectiveness of Manticore. Manticore hopped in and out of oribt nets as best he could on the uppermost platform of one of the structures while launching salvos of missiles. Manticore tried to persue DK from one platform to the next, but DK would only backtrack to the platform that Manticore had just left. The brief moments of both AC's passing one another in the air were heated and intense. DK almost took this one, but fell to a few errant missiles as he was trying to find his footing.

Manticore - 984 DragonKnight - 0

Winner = Manticore 2 - 0

Final Four

Bertha(M) VS. SJ-Sober(S)

Military District: Bertha took the offensive immedietly and launched salvo after salvo of missiles while OBing in to drive home MG and howie rounds. SJ was completely taken aback by the offensive manuever and after taking massive missile damage was forced to play defensive in order to avoid more damage. Bertha kept of the pressure and poured it on as it became clear this match would come down to who could out perform the other in a damage race. Grenades and chain kept thing interesting, but the initial missile damage was too much to for SJ to overcome.

Betha - 4230 SJ-Sober - 0

Parking Lot: SJ decided to take missiles out of the equasion altogether. Bertha however did a fantastic job once the missiles were dropped and became a dancing MG and howie ripping machine. With shield up and GNL firing, SJ waded into the mix and do what heavily armed and defended AC can do so well. It wasn't nearly the lopsided battle is should have been all things considered, as both AC's switched back and forth from offensive to defensive in an eye raising display. Once Bertha's MG went click click click however, the writing was on the wall.

Bertha - 0 SJ-Sober - 475

Military District: What works once can work again. Bertha once again forced the offensive and filled the eye with missiles. This time however SJ would not be easy prey for them and worked decoys and OB to near perfection in order to almost completely negate and received damage. Once the first few salvos were avoided SJ went on a GNL jousting spree and drove grenades into Bertha and taking momentary cover in order to repeat. Massive damage was inflicted this way and Bertha was forced to rely on only his arm weapons once the missiles went dry. As effective as they were in the Parking lot, they were less so where SJ could keep him at arms length and always in the lock of his chaingun. The match was ended from mid distance with some sporatic chaingun rounds fired from above as the tank took to the air.

Bertha - 0 SJ-Sober - 5218

Winner = SJ-Sober 2 - 1

Pressurize(S) VS. Manticore(M)

Military District: In an extremely close and entertaining fight the similarly armed beasts danced among the buildings and laid waste to almost all of them. The faster more manueverable Pressurize kept good pressure on the ruggedly built Manticore. Missile salvos and MG were exchanged with buckshot and lasers intemixed for an awesome display of weaponry. Manticore played a defensive game for the most part and allowed Pressurize to dictate the fight, but Pressurize always had an AP loss and had to on the pressure. His name almost dictated how effectively he could do so, but Manticore had one of the tougher hides in the tournament and an awesome ability to answer or state damage.

Pressurize - 0 Manticore - 477

Crest Base: The strategy of keeping the central structure between himself and Manticore was a sound one. Manticore lacked the manueverability or energy efficiency to continually chase Pressurize up or around the platform. Pressurize utilized this cover and snapped busts of fire as well as missile swarms at every turn, but saw his share of crafty return fire as well. It was a close match for the majority of the time, but as the end drew near Pressurize came around cover just in time to meet a full salvo of Manticores last remaing missiles.

Pressurize - 0 Manticore - 1261

Winner = Manticore 2 - 0

Main Event

SJ-Sober(S) VS. Manticore(M)

Military District: In what was to become a legendary battle between two heavy weights, SJ-Sober took the offensive by moving from building to building to achieve good jousting range. He landed a grenade into SJ, but continued the OB with a full salvo of HI-Acts on his tail that landed themselves. The battle commenced in a mostly defensive fashion thereafter with SJ trying his best to neuter missiles, and Manticore lumbering out of the way of passing grenades. For all of the defensive play, there were still many heated exchanges in which large chunks of AP were lost on both sides. As the last seconds were waning in the match, SJ managed to get above Manticore just enough to grab the lead with a vicious ripping of chaingun.

SJ-Sober - 2262 Manticore - 2028

Abandoned Factory: Manticore tried to take away as much OB room for SJ, yet still retain enough room where it wouldn't be a total slug fest. Swarms of missiles were launched at every oppurtunity and were for the most part successful. SJ still managed to drive home with the big gun and answer machine gun rounds for MG-800. If there was any weapon that paid off the most in this round, it would have to be the XCDL as it piggybacked in on bullets and landed with great accuracy and solid damage. A last monstrous exchange had Manticore utilizing a center pole for cover as SJ OB'd in to try and regain the lead. It was to no avail however as the AP difference was too significant at that point, and Manticore brought SJ down with a final snap off of a laser bolt.

SJ-Sober 0 Manticore - 2123

Underground Factory: And this was nothing short of an all out slug fest. The walls were literally burning and crumbling from the incredible amount of ordance thas was expended as both AC's lumbered around one another trying to seek an advantage. SJ landed several grenades in a row, but Manticore's hide took them almost as well as anyone could while hammering away on SJ as well. After expending all his missiles Manticore dropped them to gain manueverbility and tried to get in and flank the monstrous tank. SJ switched to chain and fired off his turn boosters trying to hold a lock himself. Both AC's were horribly wounded and it was going to be a close one. SJ managed to snap off his turn boosters perfectly and had Manticore dead in his sights and dead to rights as he let loose another burst of chaingun to bring down the staggering Manticore.

SJ-Sober 715 Manticore - 0
