I'm a HUUUUUGE JL fan. I think I've seen every episode of the old JLA and was very pleased to see the new JL on Cartoon Network bless their souls. I have one major problem with the show. Why in the fuck does Wonder Woman fly?!?!?! She's supposed to have an invisible jet!!!! Were they just to lazy to draw the plane or what? Anyone know?

Did you guys see the one hour special this weekend? Fucking Solomon Grundy died!! WTF!??! This show is dark and deep. Aquaman somehow lost his left hand and now has a hook!! I missed that important episode. I would really like to see the Wonder Twins come back. That would be dope!
Ganesha
A "huuuuuuge Justice League fan" would know the answer. tongue.gif

Fortunately, I'm here. And I'm not spoon fed my information by the idiot box.

On with the proceedings. . .

QUOTE
Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman was granted strength and power by Demeter, beauty and a loving heart by Aphrodite, wisdom by Athena, hunting ability and unity with the beasts by Artemis, sisterhood with fire by Hestia and speed and the power of flight by Hermes. This combined with her natural skill allows her to stand as an equal to such figures as Superman and Captain Marvel.

The Invisible Jet came about because cartoon writers are lazy and kids are stupid.

Aquaman's hand was eaten by fish. Demonstrating how incredibly fucking lame Aquaman is, was, and will always be.

I'm a fan of JLA as well.
I feel the show represents the comic books fairly well...........but i was ticked off at a few things..........

I was bothered by Wonder Woman's flying thing. I felt the invisible jet was rather retarded anyway. The only things that really bugged me was:

1. Green Lantern. I was expecting Kyle and they gave us What's-his-name? I didn't expect that, and am rather peeved that Kyle isn't there. I mean, he was quite possible the coolest one of them all. He was an artist for Christ's sake! He could imagine anything and make the ring do it! He never used just straight up beams from the ring.......He was too creative for that. He fashioned green tinted blasters and such. I believe this is an attempt to draw more attention to the others. GL has always been unapreciated.

2. Hawk Girl. I don't even remember her having an electric mase. Of course, i never really saw her much int he comic books.......

I saw the hour special. I almost cried when Grundy died. Poor guy only wanted his soul back.....

Oh, almost forgot another annoyance. When Hawk girl's mase went underwater........wouldn't that have shocked the crap outta everything within a 5 mile radius?
Ganesha
Daniel: You can't have Kyle because the network needs The Token black character on the team. So you get John Stewart.

Also, it's mace.

Well I think they took cues from the old JLA series and updated them. That's why they used the black GL. I think they are trying their best to be original and not follow the comics. Aquaman on old JLA is lame compared to the new one. At least the new one doesn't give a fuck and uses his weapons instead of sending a school of tuna to save the day.

Wonder Woman flying is still the biggest annoyance of them all. Linda Carter never flew without her plane. If she did she would have come to my crib.
Versellios
I'm a fan of the shows not the comics. So I am happy to see that it was originally planned for her to fly. Can't aquaman use like, sea urchin powers and grow his hand back or something? How was his dismemberment handled on the show? Same way or watered down?
Adamantrue
In the show, he was handcuffed or something, while someone was trying to destroy Atlantis or something like that. He cut it off in order to save his child...or his people...or something like that.

He isn't quite so bad this time around. He almost makes waterbreathing and talking to fish cool. Almost...

Yeah, linda carter was the bomb, but i never like the flying jet. *shrugs*
Anyway, i'm pretty much a fan in all aspects. I used to have most of the comics, but since my dumb ass town stoped selling comics (i know, It's a small town), i've gotten into the TV part of things.

Anyway, i suppose the black GL does make some sense after all.
I hope they atleast have Kyle make a cameo. Ya know, just say he's working the other side of the planet, or something.

I love how they portray batman. He's definately true to the comics. A human who resents not having superpowers, and is always off by himself or acting as the brains (perhaps that's his superpower?).
Versellios
Batman and Superman have animosity towards one another anyways. Superman doesn't like Batmans vigilante ways. Did you read The Man Of Steel series? That whole conflict betwen the two is great. I can't wait til the next Batman movie. I hope it's violent, bloody and rated R. It should be hardcore!
Ganesha
Lynda Carter didn't fly because a flying rig would burst under the weight of her pendulous attributes. Not to mention flight in anything in the 70's that was not Superman was lame looking. tongue.gif

Depending on what version of the DC Universe they're toying with for this show - the Green Latern Corp may be around. Have there been any references to Hal Jordan? That should be a dead give away.

Batman was never portrayed as harboring animosity towards super powered beings.

Batman just doesn't trust anyone. For a good look at that I'd suggest a recent Justice League America story called Tower of Babel. Of course, that would require reading a comic. tongue.gif

You'll never get a bloody and violent Batman movie. It's not representative of the character, and the studios will take that big franchise and market it to the wallets of every sucker in America with a big PG-13 to sell lunch boxes, toys, and sleeping bags.

Go read some comics.

I actually watch this show occasionally and I have to say, many of the episodes are very cool and there is a lot of character interaction, plus not as ghey as the Superfriends.

Things I noticed:
Superman: He doesn't seem to be that strong since he gets staggered by even blasts of electricity from the Manhunters. I really liked the episode where it shows a totalitarian "Justice Lord"-ruled America. Superman lobotomizes criminals into subserviant slaves. Awesome.

Green Lantern: Not very creative, but I sort of like his character, and he still can fly through space with a whole bunch of other people, even without a spacecraft. The Green Lantern also seems to be the most helpful for saving civilians en-masse, with his energy shields, etc.

Batman: Same old Batman, insecure about his lack of superpowers. He doesn't need them. Also, Bruce was the one who contributed their space station I believe. That guy is like Bill Gates x10.

Martian Manhunter/Jon: I haven't seen this guy before, but he always screams in a really funny way when badguys mess with his head. It sounds more like he fell off a cliff than a sudden cry of anguish, but at least he doesn't sound constapated like Superman does a lot. There are also many small errors with his powers. He can turn permiable and bullets and fists will go through him, but why doesn't he do that ALL the time when an enemy attacks him physically? I've seen Jon get punched many times. If he's psychic, he'll never get caught by surprise if the enemy has a mental presence, so that's not an excuse. He also seems to always delve into the mind of the enemy and then some superpower surges through his brain and he does his scream.

Flash: He seems to be the comic relief, always cracking jokes and hitting on the ladies. The Flash seems to have to save the day, mostly by accident, in many instances.

Hawk Girl: She seems really strong, sometimes even stronger than Superman. She also has the worst voice actress out of all of them I think.

Wonder Woman: Yes I wondered where her invisible jet went, but then I realized how stupid that was, so I let it drop. She seems naive, that aspect of her having lived on a freaking island for all of her life with only women might have something to do with it.

G.A, you're forgetting about the AzBats arc... Jean-Paul Valley under mantle of the Bat was ins4nez0rz wink.gif

Though I doubt a movie could do Azrael Batman justice, in all honesty... dry.gif

On a side note, does anyone know what happened to Bruce after "Bruce Wayne: Murderer" or whatever that comic was called?

I really wanna know if he was guilty or innocent. Someone please explain.
Versellios
Batman and Superman DO have animosity towards each other in the comic world. Whether this has been hashed out or not I don't know. They got into a huge fight in The Man Of Steel I think. It was over the way Batman handled his criminals.

Interesting stuff indeed.
MTCD01
The GL corps is around in the series. Little while back GL visited the homebase and hooked up with some other GLs.

Thought I'd throw that in there.
Daniel
The corps is back?
I remember a while back, Kyle tried to start his own and failed.....
But have they tried to rebuild the corps again?

I've still got the comic of Hal with, like, 10 GL rings and he ditches 9 of them to face Sinistro (sp?) one last time. That has to be one of my all time favorite GL comics.
syllaw blood
why hasnt anyone mentioned darkseid? and that dude that was in the episode with the hardcore league (the justice league that kills, and lobotimizes the enemies)

SPOILERS

the alien thing that alternate superman (white suit) lobotimized is the dude that KILLS superman in the comics... doesnt anyone remember that???

END SPOILERS

and what is with the weak legion of doom... man they need more members, like lanter's nemesis, and aquaman's fishbowl head enemy dude.... they were cool, what happened to kid robin?

SPOILERS

in one comic i read he was killed by a bomb that the joker threw..... but he is in Teen Titans... the show with more subliminal messages than a matrix commercial... yes i watch that show, i'll give credit to DC, there new shows, well characters based on their comic universe, totally beat Marvel's toons...
Versellios
AHHHH Yes, he did look strikingly familiar to the guy that killed Superman. I noticed it, but didn't think it was really him as he was killed off in the comic.

The Joker killed Robin, raped him and cut him to pieces and sent him back to Batman. Forget the comic that was in though. There were like 3 Robins and 2 of them died or some shit. The last one went on his own to become Nightwing.

They were also present during his trial episode when he was accused of blowing up a planet.

How exactly did some alien kill Superman? Why is he so strong?

Gees, kids now a days spend too much time reading Marvel comics. blink.gif
Wonder Woman could always fly, the invisible jet was only in the sries made for TV in the 70's. Martian Manhunter has always been there (He has a significant role in The Crisis on Infinite Earths Series) He is supposed to be nearly as powerful as Superman.

Batman and Superman are not enemies by any stretch. Batman keeps a sample of Kryptonite sealed away, Because of the time Superman lost his mind and could not be stopped. Batman simply covers all of his bases.

In case you couldn't tell I am an avid superman fan, and have collected a large amount of memorabilia over the last 10 years. I have a lot of Alex Ross art, as well Alex ross figures. But in addition I have all of the Juctice league figures and/or toys. smile.gif In the words of Kingdom Come "Dedicated to Christopher Reeves, making us believe a man can fly" smile.gif

That couldn't have been Doomsday.
Number one, they took him down WAY too easily.
Two, It looked similar to him, but he didn't have the key signature bones across the eyes.
Three, that's not the way Doomsday was introduced in the comics. I doubt they would stray from such a critical event such as the Doomsday event.
Four, Superman didn't die to him, and all of the hero's didn't get floored by him.

I know quite a bit about Doomsday, considering i still have the novel that was written about the event.
Fricken 600 pages plus.
syllaw blood
jinx you sure are a big fan... too bad its DC comics...

ah well he got the laser eyes to the brain, so some freak could put a new brain in him, and put bones across the laser points... heh its the toon they can change things, they do it all the time... spider man comics will ALWAYS be better than any show.... the mtv spidey didnt suck too bad imo

Heh, I actually collect "Some" Marvel comics as well. When marvel decided to release X men #1 with the 85,000 different covers to collect, It soon lost it's luster. If you like Spider Man (Stan Lee) I would think you would like Marvel a little less. Since Marvel thru their shotty business practices drove Mr. Lee away and caused him to create his own company. Image Comics if I remember correctly.

Marvel for me has always been about the $$ and collecting multiple issues of the same comic. Well maybe not always, but thru the majority of my comic collecting life.

DC for me has always been about the storylines. (For the most part) The older I got the more I apreciated the depth the DC comic megaverse had to offer. Just my opinion though. smile.gif

Kinda hard to forget "My skin can with a Nuclear blast....uhg..." as I thought that was really gay. If he was able to bask in a Nuclear blast then why would a laser bother him? That really pissed me off. But I still like evil Superman better than the regular.

I thought he burnt right through his bone eyebrows.

Marvel and DC: I never really liked DCs characters because of their annoying tendancy to take them and use them to death. Not only that, but untill Marvel begain gaining larger sucess, their heroes were generally "perfect" with no personal problems.
MTCD01
I'll second the Hatred for "perfect" heros.

Really though anyone that can laugh at a nuke from inside the flash and take a Superman uppercut without flinching should not go out like that ("Gay, Liberachi gay"). Just one more reason for me to hate Superman. Even when he's "Evil".
Feedback
Maybe his eye beams are SUPER powerful. biggrin.gif I know I know lame pun.
Seriously though, it's only heatvision. Unless he's Dio Brando from Jojo's Bizzare Adventure, he can't hope to blast through that kind of armored bone structure.

just wondering if you guys still watching?

Mild Spoilers

last saturday's ep was amazing, it was a death of superman, but he was really sent into the future, and othe cool stuff happens, did anyone see it? BTW lobo was in it!!!
MagusDraco
That episode was really cool.
Daniel
OMG, it was awsome to see Lobo again. He's probebly one of my all time favorite characters!

BTW: That dude wasn't Doomsday! I WON'T LET IT BE!
Doomsday never talked, btw. He was a cold, huge, killing brute who took down most of the heros that got thrown at him. They really do need to do an episode of Superman's Comic book death. Man, that would bring back memories.

I don't know if any of you read DC much, but I remember getting a few comics back in the day (Maybe 2000, 2001) of Doomsday comming back, but it wasn't the brute itself, it was some other villan who had taken over his mind (I think it was brain-e-ack biggrin.gif but i can't remember). I believe it was also the one with superman trying to send Lana's dieing child some hospital far away. That was the only time i remember Doomsday talking and i remember in the comic they where surprised the beast was smart enough to talk. lol.

maybe that will be doomsday, since its a show, they can alter things in the comics... like give him a bone eyebrows to block the part of the brain were supes lasered him... and then have the dude that did that control his mind, thus once again making him DOOMSDAY... and give him the ability to kill supes...

and wasnt doomsday killing supes made inside a novel type comic book? if they do deside to kill supes in the series for a while, they probably will change the way it happens, i dont know but i am liking this show better than the JLA comics... but then again ive been marvel biased (Silver Surfer for ever) ... its possible man... you can tell yourselve whatever you want, but you and i just dont know whats really going on...
Daniel
Yes, they did release a novel about the death of supes, and i got it!
Oh yeah! Saw it in a amall when it first came out and since my Dad's into comics a bit himself, we got it. I've read it twice! It's good stuff!
It explains everything from the arrival of Doomsday to the death of superman and the arrival of the other super-men and finally when cyborg supes was found out and destroyed.

Fricken long, though. 600+ pages!
syllaw blood
heh this is really interesting, hawkgirl is better fanservice than wonder woman, they showed a tie in to batman beyond, now we know the origin of the royal flush gang... joker is such a cool villain, for having no powers whatsoever....
MagusDraco
yeah, that was a fun episode. Though where were Jon and Wonder Woman? I missed the beginning.
Puppydog007
same her, I got in when the Royal Flush gang was first announced. A very fun episode, another reason to love the Joker. He doesn't need no super powers
Daniel
Ya know, Joker does kinda have a power.
His maniacal crazy-ness. He's totally unpredictable in everything he does, pretty much.

I've always had Joker as one of my favorite villans. He's just below Doomsday on the list.
MagusDraco
Joker has always been my favorite villain. Him and Darkseid or whatever his name is.

I remember one of them was killed with a bomb that the joker threw, bats got away but robin went bye bye... unfortunately I got rid of all my DC comics when silver surfer was decided by WIZARD magazine as the strongest hero in both universes..
