Full Version: The Music of MoC

I was listening to some of Kobel's musical creations (some very nice stuff!), and I thought to myself: Why not just use this stuff to provide background music for when I compress the MoC4 footage (when we get it)? I think everyone is pretty sick of listening to the same music, again and again. I want to do something different.

I think only a few fights would justify going through the technical trouble of messing with a Divx compression, but it would be a nice way to make MoC a more personalized event and it'd be cool to circulate some of the local talent to a wider audience.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to overlay seperate MP3 audio files onto compressed footage. Also, I was wondering if anyone was interested in contributing music.

By the way Ben, my personal favorite is Smoke and Mirrors -- excellent stuff.

I've been digging Smoke and Mirrors a lot recently myself, although I think my stuff keeps improving... Which is encouraging. I'd be a bit leery of mixing out the original audio track for these matches, though, because IMO the sound effects are a very important part of how the match goes down. Another interesting idea might be to put together some sort of promotional video, in which case we wouldn't have to give a crap about the sound effects as it wouldn't be a vs match narrative. Either way, though, I'm flattered.

I think a nifty promotional video would be awesome! But I also think I can overlay music over the MoC footage -- sorta like in photoshop, where you can lay images down in multiple layers.

Anyway, anyone watch Beserk? There's a cool punk music introduction -- totally out of place in a feudal-era, sword-slashing epic, but, at the same time, totally appropriate. Anyway, I think punk would be cool too -- nudge, nudge. John.

But wouldn't the first layer of backround music mix nastily with the provided SL soundtrack that allready backs the game?

Punk is dead! I don't think I'd be able to come up with anything appropriate for AC, but I'll take a look at past and present band catalogs. You crazy bastard. Why don't you mix in something of those awesome fetish porn soundtracks you have stashed?

*edit*

I've been trying out different pieces with the footage from MOCIII and Smoke and Mirrors really does rock the snot out of those videos.

That's why we'd turn down, in game, the BGM level to zero. That way we'd just have blast effects audio and we'd be free to mix in fan music.

I've listened to Smoke and Mirrors dozens of times and it's perfect AC music. Actually, it sounds like like AC1's music, except improved. Very nice.

I was thinking that we could assemble a little 2 minute introductory clip for the MPEG CD -- something that people can use to understand MoC. It would be nice to have some garage band music in there.

Punk dead? What's with the change of heart?!?!
Kishin
So, as you see things, before important matches near the end of the tournament, we'd ask participants in matches to turn down their BGM music for editing purposes later on? Sounds good.

No change of heart, but punk is just the new, relevant rock n' roll of today. 'Punk' is a romantic term for romantic individuals; it's open to interpretation, modification, and regurgitation. At any rate, I was checking out some stuff and I think there may be a few tracks worth looking into. There's tons of time, but I'll work on giving you a listen in the next couple of weeks.

I want Ben to write more songs for this. Go. Go. Go!
Kobel
Hm. I apparently haven't been in the mood recently, judging by the fact that anything I've written recently is crap. However, all it takes is a few minutes of inspiration followed by 8 or 9 hours of hard work and I'll have a new piece done. Cross your fingers.
