Full Version: Scottish Rites Silent Line Tournament
The Raven's Haven > Armored Core > Raven Nexus
joust
OK, all you 1337 OP-I baddies, let's prove, again, that OP-I is blanancedorzed.

The date of the Scottish Rites tournament is Sunday, Dec. 14th. I'm hoping that we all can make it. I was thinking that we could, early in the morning, get some iLinked goodness in at my place and then roll down there around 12:00 or 1:00 for some serious mech luving.

Anyone game? Anyone not game? Anyone just to claim that OP-I is balanced? Please post.
Kobel
In.
Nydyne
Havent played SL in a good long while. Lets hope i haven't lost my touch. wink.gif Im in.
Duneman
Depending on what day Dec 13 is...in relation to school, I'll try to make it. Someone better bring something with the GNL...it makes a nice OP-I killer.
Kishin
I think I can make this happen.
Jujuboy
Yuhp yuhp yuhp

meet up 'round 10 O'clock?
joust
ATTENTION!!!

The tournament is actually on the 14th of December, not the 13th.

That's a SUNDAY. Sorry for the mistake.
Kobel
NP man, still up.
Kishin
That should make things easier, actually. Are we still going meet up prior?
CrimsonII
hmm, I'll have to check my schedule, but I might be able to make it for that, allthough I've a feeling that I may need a ride to work, if someone don't mind, and I'd definitely be paying em some gas money this time
Kishin
If we hook up before hand, do you think anyone else would be able to supply a second TV?

My own is giving me fits, but I might be able to work it out.
Versellios
This isn't the Scottish Rites in San Diego is it?
Kishin
Nah, we're talking Sacramento.
CrimsonII
hmm, I think I actually will be able to work out being there, just gotta see if someone can give me a ride back to woodland, and I can pay for gas
EJRaven
Let's make one big Southern and Northern gethering this Friday!
Kishin
My band has a show and I think a couple of the other guys are having finals this week (either just ending or just starting, depending on the system). Can't really speak for those guys, though.

I'd like to have a SoCal/NorCal gathering sometime over Winter Break. When do you leave, EJ?
EJRaven
I'm on a 24 hour re-call period but my company won't start shipping out until next week.

So I have this Friday and this Saturday to play with .. I will be with my family Sunday.
CrimsonII
well, oddly enough I have friday off from work, so..., and then there's just that transportation thing
EJRaven
Ok so we have enough people for this Fraday .... Franko and Talib I will pick you up early like at 11am on Friday.

We still need Alphamus confirmation for this Friday .... can the Watcher host this if Mike can't do it?
Kurenai
I'm game on Friday. I need to drop off some stuff with EJ, anyways. Actually, if some of you northern folk show up, I won't even need to mail these videos up there. That'd work out quite conveniently for me.

Wasn't Ned coming to SoCal for a while this December? When does he show up?
joust
I don't think anyone will be able to make it this Friday. We're basically going to meet up and play at a pretty lame OP-I tournament nearby, right across from my University.

The guy that hosts it will probably cancel the entire event if we fail to show up. It's a very small, but still enjoyable tournament.

Anyway, it would have been great if we all could have met before your depature, Erick, but unfortunately, it just wasn't in the cards. sad.gif

I wish you luck on your trip!
EJRaven
Thank you!

But we are meeting here in Southern Cali: Irvine ... It's a shame you can't make it down here!

My last post was meant for the Souther Cali Irvine gathering.
Rose
EJ, have you been talking to Mike? Let me know what you have in mind for the Irvine gathering, because thus far nothing has been set in stone
EJRaven
Rose can you please call him and ask him!

Thank you!
Blue Boy
Wait, a gathering in Irvine, CA? Cool. What do you have in mind EJ? I was talking to Alphemus about it a few days ago and we're not really sure where to host it. We have some ideas, but like what Rose said, "It's not set in stone." Throw me some ideas and we'll see what we can do. And another thing, just a gathering or a small tourney? Hm...
Oh yeah EJ, protect my boys (Marines) out there, alright? And thanks.
Rose
Already called him, EJ. He says we'll have to see, because finals are this and next week. Saturday might be best, but if we do it'll have to be in the morning more than likely, because I know that I have work. Is this a small tourney or a gathering, as Tony asked? We were thinking about hosting a tourney out here in a couple of months anyway, but it would be nice to play again with you before you leave. Alphemus will respond with his opinion later this evening after he gets off of work. Good luck there, EJ.
Alphemus
Friday, at what time?

We need to know what time and how many.

URGENT.
EJRaven
Ok here is the list so far:

The Watcher (cofirmed via PM)
Talib
Franko
Kurenai
Ninebreaker
Demon
Me and you 3.

Not sure:
Kurt

I will pick up Talib and Franko this Friday 12th December at 1pm and I will head back down at your place (or address you designate) at 2-3pm ... we can then play until our eyes fall off.

If everyone agrees we can meet at 2 or 3pm this 12th Friday at Alphamus place.

Kurt might be able to host if you aren't, everyone make sure you bring your PS2, game, and I-link ... I will try to get an extra TV.

Ok Mike please respond soon and let us know if it can be done, also we need a headcount for the specified time .. meaning let us know if you're gonna be late.

Also we can make this a small tourny.
joust
OK, Sacramento Dudes.

We can meet up at my house beforehand, but only for a short period of time. I am very busy. I think the AC tournament will start at around 1:00 or 2:00. We should get down there around that time.

The Scottish Rites in located across the street from Sacramento State University.

edit:nevermind this post, thought I wouldn't be making it, but found out differently lol
Jujuboy
I just got off the phone with Kobel and Joust the final plan is we all meet up at the convention at 1:30.

FYI: Kobel and my PS2s are both shot right now so we may be stuck with link if either Dune or Kish can't supply a system. Contact Kannon if you guys need a to carpool I'm taken care of Ben.

See ya'll there

Jujuboy
In case anyone is keeping score Joust put this one away with an OP-I/Breaker design. Kish came in second with similar OP-I terror (-breakage +'nadeage).

Not that I had any doubt before but after this afternoon I am utterly convinced that OP-I is miles from the land of balanced (so is this game for that matter). If he lucks into an open arena an OP-I pilot for all intents gets an automatic win. In an enclosed stage the ability to blast away with a GNL or chain gun more than offsets the defense penalty, leaving the OP-I user with a significant advantage.
Duneman
Here's hoping one or more of them reveals their OP-I design(s).

Hopefully this makes it a little more obvious to most that OP-I is still unfair without question on open stages, and still a serious force on cramped stages.
Puppydog007
so could people post their designs and some overview of the tourney? were there any tapes of some matches? sounds like you guys had fun
sandman
There are people out there that think OP-I is balanced?! blink.gif rolleyes.gif

Fuck the busted ass designs, just for kicks what were the rules? Was this one of those random stage things? Was anything banned? Whatd' you run Juju?

OP-INTENSIFY

I think that's what I ran, there might be some minor differences with the chassis or internals. Against heavies, mids, or guys running lights that have no clue how to play the game, drop the chaingun. In closed areas, rock the chaingun. I played my worst AC ever today, yet managed to beat everyone I faced (even one win against Joust in our first matchup, single elimination) until Kannon whipped me in the finals. OP-I is lame.

Ben and Eric used variants of their staples. So, Hunk with the MG800 and some minor changes and Holy Avenger with an LQ, MG800 and a solid arm shield.

Kannon snagged a really awesome AC toy for MOC, though.

Karl: The guy said it was single elimination, but then he started setting up a losers bracket, MOC style. Basically, there wasn't single elimination but all matches until the Finals were single fights, random arena, 5 minute time limit, breaking and pickup on. One AC, no changes, nothing banned.
Jujuboy
We tend to not take these tournaments too seriously since the rules make for such a fickle event, but we always show 'cause it's AC and 'cause it's Sac.

Both Kobel and my PS2s were busted so neither of us had a chance to try and piece together something new for the tournament. That's my excuse for running such moldy designs. I when I get my system back from Sony I'm gonna try and come up with something fresh to see if I can revive my interest in SL. If I come up with anything I'll post it.

Amen, man. I think we're all ready to make that effort. Ben's even talking about putting away tanks.

Maybe we can pull Shaun out of his cave in a couple of weeks (or a month, or whenever it happens)?
CrimsonII
ya, it was mostly just something for fun, heck I wasn't expecting to even win my first match honestly, op-i is just not for me, it may be all that, but give me regular ops anyday of the week, and good match Kish, I was amazed I lasted as long as I did to be honest, specially with such a POS design that I scrapped together lol

edit: oh, ya forgot you were asking bout rules sandman, there weren't any, cept for random stages, and 5 minute matches, and what was already said
