the R4 demo is available at the propellerhead website and I installed it, I dont even want to go back to R3. R4 has a much richer sound than earlier versions. Sadly it only runs for 20 minutes each time you run it and many of the features are disabled but its definitly worth checking out.

Reason has such a huge learning curve though. It looks so slick and I love the patch cables. I use Fruity Loops. Been using it for years. Tried Reason but it was very hard to figure everything out.

I started using Ejay ( go ahead laugh LOL) And tried a demo of fruity loops and thought it was great and then got ahold of reason and I immediately took to that and even recognized quite a few of the knobs and sliders then after basically just taking time to experiment with the sounds and thats how I am constantly learning new things. Someone recently posted a vid about how to make a scratch type effect with the pitchbend on a keyboard and reason pretty neat.

Reason is a lot easier to understand if you start out with working with actual synthesizer hardware, seeing as that's the kind of environment it's designed to emulate. Once you understand the way the old school basic synthesizers work, with sound and filter envelopes and different waveforms and controlling oscillators and all that jazz, Reason is pretty easy to grasp. Without that grounding, though, I could see how it would be a little overwhelming.
I'll probably have to see about getting R4 one way or another. Maybe I can look into actually selling some music, and thus justify an actual purchase rather than piracy.

I got a chance to play around with the demo alot more and the new sequencer makes things alot easier to work with including pattern changes. It has a nicer workflow (IMO).I have always recorded in a fairly slow tempo but with how easy it is now to make changes I can see the use in recording faster now. Kobel I was also looking at the time sig and the tempo automations since I know you were curious about if it included them and it doesinclude both. . I think you might be able to change the tempo on the fly furthering the automation but dont quote me on that. The regroove mixer which is like an ultimate shuffle effect is pretty nice and I think I could use it quite a bit. I havent played with the rpg-8 which is the arpeggiator(SP?). What I have been using almost exclusively in the demo besides the redrum is THor and I cant say enough great things about what I have been able to do with it so far. I know that I sound like a spokesperson but I just wasnt sure what to exect with the new version and with one or two small things I would say its a true improvement. Oh another thing you can now do is change the color of the tracks to better organize then to your style.
Kobel I know ypu were curious about the tempo and time sig changes in a song and I dug around in ther demo and there are now automations for both here a sample I made for you. it has a click track that starts off at 6/8 then 2/4 then 16/8(or 16 Im not sure) before settling on 4/4 and it follows the tempo.
