| +Galaxy Angel DVD and Manga Out in March - Galaxy Angel Volume 1, from Broccoli Books, is scheduled to have a simultaneous March 3rd release with Bandai's Galaxy Angel Limited Edition DVD. The manga will be 208 black and white pages, suggested for thirteen and over. The Galaxy Angel Limited Edition DVD will include an exclusive fan booklet produced by Broccoli Books. The two companies are co-producing a Galaxy Angel Website, scheduled to launch early next year, which will join the existing Galaxy Angel games, novels, anime, manga and merchandise to create a powerful marketing presence for this property. +TokyoPop Announces Summer Releases - Tokyopop has announced it will ship the first issues of five new manga titles on June 4th. The titles are The Seikai Trilogy: Crest of the Stars, Remote, Comic Party, Deus Vitae and Immortal Rain. These five new anime titles debuting in June join seven other new titles from Tokyopop already announced for April and May release to provide a wealth of new material. +t.A.T.u. Anime - A new anime movie staring Russian pop duo t.A.T.u. is set to be released in Japan in November 2004. The official website for t.A.T.u. Paragate gives no information about the movies plot but does give us a look at the staff. Paragate will be directed by Norio Kashima and Susume Kudoh while Shinichiro Watanabe will direct the opening. +Bandai and Microsoft Distribute Anime - Bandai Japan and Microsoft have teamed up to distribute anime on the Internet using Microsoft's Windows Media technology. Fruits of the partnership are already becoming available to South Koreans as five titles became available for streaming download at the end of November. The titles currently available in Korea include three Gundam movies, Z Gundam (50 TV episodes), Dirty Pair (26 TV episodes), .hack//SIGN (26 TV episodes) and Aura Battler Dunbine (49 TV episodes). According to the Microsoft Press Release (in Japanese), the service will expand globally, with content distribution becoming available in more parts of Asia, Europe and North America by the end of 2004. +Ultimate Muscle Translated to English - Ultimate Muscle: The Kinnikuman Legacy, with 23 volumes and seven million copies sold in Japan, will be published in English for the first time by Viz Communications. This action/ adventure/sports story, with an anime series already in its second season on the Fox Box, will be published in the Shonen Jump line of graphic novels on a bi-monthly basis, with the first volume scheduled to be in stores by mid-April. +Funimation Signs Exclusive Deal With g-Net for DBZ 'iGuides' - Funimation Productions, the North American licensor for Dragonball, Yu-Yu Hakusho, Detective Conan, Kitty Grade, Blue Gender, and numerous other anime properties, has inked a deal allowing videogame mavens g-Net to create official DVD strategy guides (or iGuides) for Dragon Ball Z videogames. +Japanese Man Claims Evangelion Made Him Kill Mother - During the opening statements of a murder trial prosecutors stated that Neon Genesis Evangelion influenced a young man who is accused of beating his mother to death with a baseball bat. Hiroyuki Tsuchida, 22, is said to have killed his mother with a baseball bat because he believed that it would be easier to kill others if he got over his hesitations by first killing family members. The prosecutors claims that Tsuchida came to believe the phrase ""The ultimate conclusion of (human) evolution is ruin," from Neon Genesis Evangelion and that he also came to believe that humans were unnecessary being responsible for the destruction of the environment. In January, all the Adult Swim titles will be broadcast twice per night with the same episode of Lupin scheduled for a repeat at 4:30 am. Unfortunately, though there are hundreds of Lupin episodes that haven't been broadcast in the US, it appears that the Cartoon Network will be replaying the same 27 episodes it has aired before. |
