Hi Guys,

Well it's been a while since the board has seen one. I have a week and a half off, and Sandman has some time off as well, so we'd like to get together and host another one. It will probably take place sometime next week, but we want to start getting entries now. The rules our as follows.

1. Either 16 or 32 AC's. This has yet to be determined, but will be as soon as Sandman and I can get together and hash out logistics. In the meantime, let's shoot for the first 32 AC's entered.

2. No OP-I.

3. Banned items are as follows: No MG800, no SRFL70, no solid shield extensions or L-arm shields.

4. Best 2 out of 3.

5. 5 minute time limit.

6. Starting arenas will be Military District, Arena, Structure. Loser chooses next arena, no duplicates.

7. Weapon Breaking will not be enabled.

8. Going overweight is allowed, however we are running in default game style. In other words, part pickup will be disabled. You drop it, it is gone.

Gentlemen, start posting designs.

This is a concept I've wanted to make happen for a long time and is, by no means, complete. But I figured I'd enter the most current version and see how it fares. There's no name yet, but I'll just use what I have on the save.

I like to land at least one blade a match for show (3-4000 AP of damage works, too), but if you have to be ugly with the KSAW the whole way - that's cool.

Thanks, guys.

Well I did have one core lined up to be in here but the no SRFL/70 (which I think is a good choice BTW) leaves him out...so I think I'll throw in one of my light heavies. This things should actually play a lot like your reincarnation of OD.

These two guns match up with ammo and reload times perfectly except for the SRFL's delay in firing, so I usually will use it alone when they are a little out of KSAW range so that the ammo will run out in it first and I'm not stuck with a 1500 kilo lockbox. The rest of this is sort of self explainatory just play it however you feel.

For stages I like the Reservoir most of the time, keep it close but also gives me room to dodge and fly. Anything else like that would work too if it came to the no repeat part, I don't really have a second favorite.

Okay, I'm not sure if I got this exactly right. The ops may have been different, and it may have been HADRO/MARE/SA77 instead, but either way works (You can use the other version if you prefer). Essentially, with this AC you should be able to damage race/ outmaneuver them at close range, and FUCK THEM UP THE ASS at a distance using supported multimissiles. This guy has the boost endurance and drain efficiency to get some pretty mad air time, so make sure to get those hot vertical angles with the MMs. 3400 base defense and 9000 AP, so don't be afraid to get close unless they have a GNL, at which point you should jab for AP lead with the HZL and missiles. This is a rather flexible, well balanced AC, and I've had nothing but success using it. Have fun!

edit: Heh, only AFTER I post do I see the AC before mine. Oh well, it can't be helped.

Starts Overweight. You've got to decide right away which Missile Pack you want to keep.

The Multi is more or less specialized for a Longer Range game, only really excelling in Treme City, the Military District, Steeple, Wasteland, and Snowfield (I hope I didn't miss anything...but I'm sure you guys have an idea what I mean). Its is the first in the toggle, and easy to drop right away. If you really know you can get away with it (and I don't mean think, I mean know), spam off a couple volleys unsupported before you drop it.

The Dual Missile is your standard midrange "power volley", as I heard someone refer to it earlier. It breaks up the monotony of a 90 - GSL game, and gives you a nice solid heavy hit during the course. Its a little more complicated to drop in the cycle, but on the Stages you drop it, you usually have the time.

90 is your reliable game that should carry you throughout the match, at all ranges you can hit with it. The 56 is your close range punch, and still works well in the Missile window.

This is slightly sluggish, so I usually keep a few Decoys out to stick to (it paces out the Energy management for me somehow, and provides some cover against both Missiles and GNLs). OB Heat can be problematic at times, but again a steady pace can help you stay ready for the opportunities (offensive or defensive) you will need to take.

And she looks damn good....

[EDIT]

Whoops, forgot the Optionals. Seems to be an awful lot of Dragons out there, in one form or another. Maybe you should have a "Tournament of Dragons" sometime soon.

Close in with the hand weapons, switch to missiles anytime they run. Or just fire them off for an AP lead at the beginning and drop, it's all good. When low on energy, switch weapon priority to the GSL until the bar builds.

Well, I see a lot of anti-armor stuff, so far(SAWAs, OC/30s, MOON PoDs, and a PK). You guys want an obligatory "big tank" to throw it at?(No CASKs would be harmed(used) in the posting of the AC. tongue.gif )

If not, I can probably come up with something else.

Underweighting(my custom as of late, I suppose), and relatively low drain, make for a somewhat nicer to handle machine(by heavy tank standards). BOLD make for a more unique frame, and provide high, but not quite CASK sky-high def (thinking with the shield's performance, in mind).

Taking note of that, I'm sure you know what to do with it.

I've seen the way Magus used his AC in MOC II. Thats the perfect way to use this design. Use the environment for tactical assaults.

Get familiar with the back weapon combo. They are the key here. Keep 'em dancing with missiles. VM for long range, mix with HA if opponent gets into a dodging rythme. HA when the opponent gets closer. And get ready to pounce with the 20E before OBing to missile range again. You have the ability to fire multiple plasma rounds to intimidate the opponent should he gets too comfortable pursuing you. Komodo can brawl if it has too.

[edit]

Parts changed: Boosters and radiators. MARE to GULL. CR14 to KDA01.

Name changed: Gargoyle. Always wanted an AC with the name. After looking at the design one night, it struck me as fitting by its looks and color scheme. I know it will now stray away from the lizard names. But I will always give credit to the design that inspired the concept.

Speed should be on your side against anything short of a HUESO, so use it to your advantage. The LQ handles the range game nicely while the MG and HZL are for closer ranges. I tend to OB away if I get bum rushed to set up for some LQ hits while they close in.

I think both of you prettymuch know how to run this by now. Use unsupported vollies of 3 or 4 to get through deeks, maybe use a supported vollie every now and then. Switch to supports and start mixin it up more to keep them on their toes. Use your missile lock to dish out some Howie bombardment from time to time too. Play hard to get and make your shots count, esspecially on the heavies. Good luck. cool.gif

Overweight. If ceilings, dump VMs, if not dump DM24. Pilot's judgement - vs ECMP ACs, probably keep DM24.

Weak armor, OB a lot, use cover. VMs is primary style. No BRK - don't slide after OB.

Range, fight at extremes, long with VMs or push in with the twins, don't hang around mid ranges where direct fire missiles and RFs, SRFs, etc, will whittle you down and cause problems with DF3's low armor.

Don't fight directly if possible, use cover to shoot VMs safely. VMs often ignore decoys, don't hold back.

Use combo attacks with VMs. Shotguns are primary offense, be ready and willing to dump missiles anytime. Don't waste too much shotgun ammo spraying.

Use ground sliding in closer ranges to push shotguns in fast, especially with no missiles.

Preferred Arenas
1. Military District (general)
2. Steeple (anti-quad/tank/Sawa) - don't give good chance to fight back
3. Wasteland, Aerial Ruin (open spaces with cover, no ceilings)
4. Misty Forest - also good vs tanks, quads, Sawas

Avoid
low ceilings
open spaces with no cover

A heavy EO WAKE design. Darksword tells me that there are alot of WAKE heavies floating around here, but very few with EO's. I chose energy EO's over OB and shell EO's to give this AC a fighting edge against those super shell defense heavies. This of course leaves it weak to distance fighters. However, even with lack of OB, this design gets great boosting efficiency, allowing you to keep going at your opponent. The defense on this design is even higher than that of my MLKS tank, which is quite an impressive feat considering it gets over 300 Km/h speeds (Thank god for WAKE). It formerly had the MG/800, but with it being banned in this tourney and me just generally not liking the gun's cheese factor, Darksword (you're a lifesaver buddy) suggested I go with the 500. After dropping SA77 back to ICICLE I had the free weight to squeeze it on there. Even though it lost 300 bullets and a bit of forced cooling, it gained more normal cooling and lost alot of the lameness the MG/800 brings to my designs.
Morris
I almost responded to this with a copy/paste, and suddenly thought better of it. The current incarnation of the Bronze Knight has drifted quite a bit from his origins. As he stands he's stylish and powerful, but I thought perhaps it would be worthwhile to go back to the beginning and rebuild the Knight from the same concepts he originally sprung from : combine a highly weight-effecient weapon load and a well-armored frame to maximize survivability by increasing both speed and armor to the highest possible levels. The result is rather less stylish, and has a rather less dominating weapon load, but sacrifices far less defense to its weapon load than the standard Knight does.

Tactics : Drop the missiles whenever possible. Many opponents will not be fast enough or tough enough to require the offensive damage cap or flexibility that the missiles provide, and the additional speed and recharge gained by dropping them are well worth it. Be somewhat conservative with the laser rifle. There's plenty of ammo, and it doesn't drain that much, but the energy is better spent moving the AC around than blasting the scenery. Between the energy optionals and the shell-bias that most ACs sport these days, the XCWL will hit just as hard as a GRSL round will, and fires almost three times as quickly, so make anyone trying to fight at CQ pay for it.

Drop the bm's unless your facing a tank....keep the pressure on with the mini sawa and gsl. Use the big swarms of hi-acts and relations when needed, 8900 ap and great defence, its a true monster...

Keeping it Simple. Wanted to throw in a D2Gundam Variant, but there's way too much risk involved when using a Moonlight. After all, Efficiency over Emotion.

Gah! Another one!
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that the Violent Soul archetype is one that gets mad popular once you kill solid shields and the MG800. I designed it with a tournament setting in mind.

yeah, the MM, MG, and HZL combo is looking very well represented to say the least. It is a shockingly effective combo. This should be a very good FT to watch.

Eh? I made that design by just fucking around with a light frame and multis. If anything inspired it it was the old Owl. *shrug*
